Living Harriet Tubman – Festival Run
August 11, 2026

Earlier this year, our short documentary Living Harriet Tubman began its festival run, with screenings and conversations taking place across the country. First, we kicked things off at the Black History Film Festival, premiering at Washington, D.C.’s historic Lincoln Theatre before additional BHFF screenings in Miami and Oakland.
Then in May, Living Harriet Tubman screened at the Inglewood Photo Festival, followed by a conversation between director Brandon Tauszik and the film’s protagonist, Nancy Whittle. You can watch the full discussion above.

Most recently in July, the film screened as part of Bravemaker Film Festival’s Movies on the Square series in Redwood City. Following the screening, co-directors Brandon Tauszik and Theo Schear joined Nancy Whittle for a Q&A with the festival programmer Naee Anderson.
Up next, the film will screen at the theater inside SF Public Library’s main branch on December 15th. Follow @living_harriet_tubman on Instagram for updates.
